“Earlier we used to get water for 20 minutes daily. But for the past four days we have not received any water supply,” said a resident of Saraswathipuram, 7th Cross.

When Deccan Herald contacted, the BWSSB assistant executive engineer concerned, he said a new water pipeline was being drawn linking 1st Cross with 5th Cross.

“We were in the process of laying a new water pipeline, as Saraswathipuram received very little water. However, the pipeline was damaged during the Metro work and residents had to suffer without water for four days. The work on laying the new pipeline will be completed by Thursday,” said the engineer.

Demanding regular and sufficient water supply from the BWSSB, members of the Akhila Bharatiya Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane staged a protest at Lakshminarayanapura (L N Pura) junction in the City, on Wednesday.

Parthiban, a Sanghatane member, said residents of Srirampura, L N Pura, Malleswaram, Bhashyam Park and Gayathrinagar were not supplied sufficient water supply.

“We are tired of complaining to the BWSSB officials. In Malleswaram alone, one can find more than 200 borewells. If only the BWSSB had ensured sufficient water supply, residents would not have sunk so many borewells,” he rued.

If the BWSSB does not take immediate steps to address the water crisis, the residents will take out massive protest rallies in the future, he added.
