Bengaluru: Six 11 kV high-voltage cables installed on Ryan School Road in Kundalahalli have been left exposed, posing a serious threat to public safety.
Even though area residents raised repeated complaints, the Bescom sub-division has not taken any corrective measures so far, they lamented.
Due to shallow burial, the cables have suffered multiple instances of damage.
“For the last year, I’ve been repeatedly asking officials to rebury the cables at a deeper level so that motorists and pedestrians can use the stretch safely. No action has been taken despite the seriousness of the issue,” said Arvind Keerthi, a resident of the area. “This is not just negligence... it’s playing with people’s lives.”
This is not the first time the power cables have been exposed. When a similar issue occurred in June 2022 and Bescom engineers failed to respond, residents installed a 20 mm steel plate over the area at their own expense to prevent further damage. However, over time, the plate has weakened, once again leaving the area in a compromised state.
