According to the police, seven friends, sales executives at a private firm in south-east Bengaluru, on Monday night planned the early morning joyride to the Nandi Hills. While Rakhi, Chiranjeevi and Rakesh were travelling on one bike, four others on two bikes followed them.

It was around 6.20 am when the fog covered the entire stretch of Devanahalli Road towards Nandi Hills. The police suspect that Rakhi would not have seen the tipper heading towards them from the opposite direction. The tipper collided with the bike leaving the three injured. Passers-by rushed to their help and the three were shifted to Pro-Life Hospital in Bytarayanapura where Rakhi was declared dead on arrival.

Vishwanathapura police have registered a case and seized the tipper. But the driver fled after the accident, the police added.

Bike hits divider, youth killed

In a separate accident, a 23-year-old youth was killed after his bike hit a median near Sadahalli toll in Chikkajala in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Initially, the police suspected that this accident could also have been happened due to fog. But after inquiries, they found that the biker was riding in a rash and reckless manner after his father had called him over the phone to return home soon.

The deceased Nikhil Yogesh was a resident of Nagashettihalli and worked at a mobile phone store in Sanjaynagar, the police said.

Nikhil was heading towards Bengaluru from Nandi Hills side when the accident happened around 1 am near Sadahalli toll. His bike hit the divider and fell down. He sustained head injuries as the police suspect he was not wearing a helmet. Passers-by informed the police and rushed him to Apoorva Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

Chikkajala traffic police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
