After spreading the message of peace, child rights, and make ‘one world, one race’ a reality, four friends from Bengaluru— Rohit Prasad, Brahmesh Puttanaiah, Harish Garg and Bharath Devanathan-- on Thursday returned home from a road trip covering 20 countries.

Sharing their experiences of their two-and-a-half months journey with DH, Devanathan, an e-commerce professional said that it was “wonderful.’’

“We interacted with a lot of people and spoke to them on violence and the need to save children, and other social issues. Some even supported our cause by donating money.”
On the idea to travel across nations, Puttanaiah said that it was a tough call to make on the road trip as the political situation in West Asia was volatile.

“We have been friends for over 20 years. Earlier, we had undertaken small trips within India and Europe. We wanted to do something bigger and the actual plan was chalked out six months ago. There was a lot of unrest and violence during the time we were planning the trip. Syrian migration crisis, terrorist attacks, among others. We felt this was the right time to spread the message of save the children campaign.”

The four friends kickstarted their journey from London at 7.30 am on June 30. They passed through France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, among other countries, in a jeep. They reached Burma and from there travelled to India. They reached Bengaluru on Thursday at 9 pm.

Faced challenges
During the trip, they had to face some challenges relating to culture and language among others. “However, we overcame all of that beautifully. On the whole, it was an amazing journey,” Devanathan added.

The team members said they enjoyed touring in and around Croatia and termed it as the most scenic place with more than 500 waterfalls and 50 lakes. The team now plan to travel across India as they have never explored the country fully. Their journey from London to Bengaluru is chronicled on the Facebook page ‘London2Bangalore.’
