Bengaluru: To raise traffic awareness among two-wheeler users, the Rotary Bangalore Midtown distributed 250 helmets on Sunday in collaboration with the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP).

The helmets were distributed to those who wore delicate, flimsy helmets which were easily breakable.

Palani Loganathan, president of Rotary Bangalore Midtown, said that the initiative was aimed towards empowering two-wheeler riders from lower-middle income communities who were not privileged enough to buy good quality helmets.

"As part of this initiative, we actually broke 250 helmets and gave them brand new ISI-marked helmets. The traffic police also advised them about the importance of wearing a helmet while riding,” he said.

He added that riders must protect themselves just the way they protect their mobile phones with screen guards.
