Basha and his friends were coming out of a bar when the assailants came on motorcycles, and assaulted Basha with machetes and daggers.
A profusely bleeding Basha died on the spot, police said. The assailants later snatched a two-wheeler from a motorcyclist near Monotype Bus Stand and drove away.
Basha, a resident of Kaveri Nagar near Banashankari had several cases against him.
Police say that a case of abduction was lodged against him at Subramanyapura police station and suspect that Basha was murder for vengeance.
