Bengaluru: Four more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a rowdy-sheeter in Bengaluru, where BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj is one of the suspects.

With this, the police have arrested 11 suspects so far.

The arrested are Avinash Dinnahalli, Sudarshan, Murugesh, and Narasimha, all from Tekal village in Malur.

They were picked up late on Monday night from Dinnahalli village in Malur, by a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rangappa.

Shivakumar alias Biklu Shiva (40) was brutally attacked and killed near his residence on Meanee Avenue Road in Bharathinagar on the night of July 15.

Five suspects had surrendered, followed by the arrest of two others, the police said.

The police suspect the four arrested on Monday had taken the contract to kill the rowdy-sheeter.

They are yet to trace Jagadish alias Jagga, the prime suspect.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh assured that strict action would be taken if lapses by the police were found during the probe.

BJP MLA to appear for questioning

BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj will appear before ACP Prakash Rathod, the investigating officer, on Wednesday for a second round of questioning.

As per the FIR, Basavaraj had backed the assailants.

After being served a notice and directed by the High Court, the MLA had appeared before the ACP on Saturday and was questioned for over three hours.

A similar round of interrogation is expected on Wednesday, police sources said.

Five suspects were arrested earlier after they surrendered, claiming responsibility for the murder.
