A consortium of nearly 350 Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) from across the City will exert pressure on State government to ensure active participation of citizens in governance.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Bhagyalakshmi, a representative of the association, said they will make this demand before Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who will be felicitated by the Association at Town Hall on Thursday.

The association will also present a charter to Siddaramaiah. The 28 legislators from the City have also been invited for the event. “We, the RWAs, are ready to get ourselves involved in the development process to ensure that the projects are finished on stipulated time. We also want the existing infrastructure to be maintained properly,” added Bhagyalakshmi.

Veteran RWA member Anand Sirur clarified that the citizen charter is not against the elected representatives.

“We cannot fight those whom we have elected. We want to join hands with the elected representatives in the development process,” said Sirur.
