A condolence meeting was held at Delhi Public School (South) for Nikhil Santosh (in pic), a class 12 student who committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping from the ninth floor of his apartment block. Students of classes 11 and 12 paid a visit to Nikhil’s parents to be with them in their grief.

People who knew Nikhil described him as a calm student who did well in academics. Though not a topper, he was an above average student, scoring 75-80% marks. He was a student co-ordinator in class 11. Studying in the Science stream, he was preparing for SAT and intended to go abroad for higher studies.

It is believed that Nikhil was upset after a conversation with his parents about his performance in school, which triggered him to take his life. He left behind a suicide note saying that he was not able to meet his parents’ expectations.

“He has been with DPS since class 3. He was normal in school. Though not an extrovert, he interacted with people around him. There was no indication at all of such an unfortunate incident which is why we are all in shock,” said Mansoor Ali Khan, board member of the DPS group.
