Schools to remain open on Cauvery verdict day

V Shankar, the deputy commissioner for Bengaluru Urban district said that no holiday will be declared for schools and colleges on Friday.

He was responding to a question whether the district administration has decided to close educational institutions anticipating trouble after the Cauvery verdict from the Supreme Court on Friday.

Mansoor Khan, of the Management of Independent CBSE Schools (MICSA), said that schools will not declare a holiday but they will be advised to take security measures. "We will be on our toes and keep an eye on the situation to decide as things unfold. It will be ensured that the students reach home safely," he said.

Shashi Kumar D, Associated Management of Private Unaided English-medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS), said that schools would be open and hoped that the government would take steps to ensure that no untoward incidents occur.
