Bengaluru: A 48-year-old man died after a snapped tree branch crashed on his head while he was riding a scooter in Koramangala 1st Block in southeastern Bengaluru on Wednesday, the police said.

Moodala Giriyappa, a resident of Adugodi, was riding pillion on his friend Ramesh's scooter when the incident occurred around 2.30 pm.

Giriyappa, an electrician, was headed to work at the time. He was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. 

According to the police, strong winds caused the tree branch to snap near Printo Junction on 60 Feet Road, resulting in the fatal accident.
