Bengaluru: A man died after a gang of four, including two rowdies, waylaid and stabbed him after attempting robbery, the police said on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Prem, whose age wasn't clear at the time. He worked at a service centre in Bengaluru, the police said.
The incident occurred on Sunday night at the Thigalarapalya main road near Byadarahalli.
The four suspects — Vishal, Hemanth, Puneeth and Naveen — were drunk at the time of the incident and waylaid Prem and two of his friends who were on a two-wheeler.
"The suspects demanded money from them. Following an argument, Prem was stabbed by a knife. Prem succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The murder weapon is yet to be recovered," a police officer said.
The Byadarahalli police have detained Vishal, Hemanth and Puneeth, while Naveen is absconding. Arrest procedures are underway and a murder case has been registered.
Vishal and Naveen are rowdy-sheeters at the Byadarahalli and Rajagopal Nagar police stations, respectively.
