The Universe in a Pot, a musical-storytelling performance by Sumana and Saitejas Chandrashekar, will be held on Thursday.
The event is inspired by stories and folklore the duo came across during their travels across India, says Sumana, who has been a ghatam artiste for 15 years. The show will see her playing the ghatam (a percussion instrument that resembles an earthen pot) and narrating stories. “In India, anywhere you go, you will hear stories about pots, potters and people who use traditional pots in some form or other. It is an integral part of our lives,” Sumana adds.
Saitejas will be singing songs about the pot. Some will be folk songs while others are inspired by works of Kabirdas, and ‘vachana’ and ‘abhang’ poets.
