Citing the rising problems in coastal Karnataka, Justice A S Bopanna orally observed that the need of the hour is for the police to build a sense of confidence and security in the public.
The observations came on Monday during the hearing of a petition regarding the missing case of a city-based software engineer Ajitabh Kumar.
Kumar went missing on the evening of December 18 along with his car, which he had planned to sell on OLX - an online classified portal.
Ashok Kumar Sinha, the father of the 29-year-old techie, had moved the court seeking directions to transfer the case to Central Bureau of Investigation as the police have been unable to get any lead in the case.
Kumar is suspected to have been abducted from the city.
Justice Bopanna asked the DCP to provide concrete findings in the case by January 16.
