Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swami has been stable after two stents were placed in the common bile duct. He is likely to be discharged from hospital on Monday.
The 111-year-old seer was admitted to the BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals at Kengeri around 4 pm on Saturday. Dr Ravindra B S, the chief of medical gastroenterology at the hospital, said the seer had been suffering from problems in the pancreas. “He has been under treatment for two-and-a-half years now. He has a pancreatic problem that has led to a blockage in a liver tube,” he added. He continued: “Besides, he is suffering from variations in the functioning of his kidneys and an infection in the gall bladder. We are giving him antibiotics to control the infection as his platelet count is decreasing. His condition has improved. He’s better than when he was admitted here.”
The endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was planned on Sunday as the swami’s CRP (infection marker) remained high.
The swami has now been shifted to the ward. He will remain under observation and will be evaluated again on Monday morning.
