Situated in one of the packed streets of Nagawara, ‘Desi Bites’ offers delectable North Indian cuisine. The place is crowded on weekends and weekday evenings.

      The eatery is owned by Kuldeep Gham and Nivedita Raj. Kuldeep, who is originally from Pune, says he missed home food after relocating to Bengaluru and wanted to introduce the authentic dishes of Maharashtra and North India to the city. Thus ‘Desi Bites’ was born in 2015 and has not looked back since.

The kitchen, run by 3 chefs, is headed by Jagdish who knows how to make people fall in love with food. “The most popular items are ‘veg ball manchurian’ for starters;

‘shahi paneer’, ‘dal bhati churma’, ‘veg Kolhapuri’ in curries; and ‘mango lassi in desserts,” says Snehalatha, who manages the crowd.

There are several types of soft, tender ‘rotis’ including ‘bajra rotis’ and ‘phulkas’ available. They are made of wholewheat rather than maida.

There are also special curries like ‘Jodhpuri Govind Gatta’ which bring about the ‘desi’ taste. A number of ‘thaalis’ are available too.

“We get a lot of food orders from offices in Manyata Tech Park. I would say ‘mushroom masala’, ‘paneer Kolhapuri and manchurians are a must-try,” adds Snehalatha.

Some of the unique dishes available here are ‘paneer kaju masala, ‘laccha paratha’ and ‘gulkhand lassi’.

The Alfonso mangoes used in ‘aam ras’ and ‘mango lassi’ are handpicked from Ratnagiri.
The restaurant is altering its menu by adding some more items like ‘onion rings’, ‘chilli pakoda’ and ‘saabudana wada’.

The eatery is pretty small in size and the service is pretty slow, especially when crowded. Prices are not too high. Overall, the food is great and worth the visit.

 If you’re a vegetarian wanting some good North Indian food, ‘Desi Bites’ is recommended.

It is located at 28, near Nagawara Bridge, Munivenkatappa Layout, 4th Main Road, Nagawara.
