Sandbox Collective, in association with Patchworks Ensemble, Mumbai will present ‘TAPE aka The Gentlemen's Club’ on May 26, 8.30 pm, at Humming Tree, Indiranagar and on May 28, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm, at Ranga Shankara, JP Nagar. The play will also be held on May 29, 7 pm, at Goethe Institut, Indiranagar.
It is an adult comedy. The plot revolves around a crazy world of surreal identities and ‘make-believe’ lives that begs the question – ‘Who Will You Be Today?’. It is set in the thriving underground club scene in Mumbai. This show follows the lives of various drag kings who perform in the city. The main act is that of Rocky aka Shammsher. Rocky pays homage to Shammi Kapoor and the golden era of Hindi cinema. He is joined by a motley crew of women who revel in drag performances. This cabaret like show takes the audience into a grimy secret world that gives one the license to be whoever they want.
The show is devised by Puja Sarup, Sheena Khalid, Rachel D’souza and Vikram Phukan. The cast includes Puja Sarup, Sheena Khalid, Rachel D'souza, Ratnabali Bhattacharjee and Mukti Mohan.
