A 25-year-old spurned lover was arrested for stripping in front of a woman he claimed to be in love with and for assaulting her and her mother.
The arrested identified as John alias Indira Street, a resident of Nehru Road in Kamanahalli, is a rowdy sheeter at the Banaswadi police station, the police said.
According to the police, Soumya (name changed) aged around 22 was in a relationship with John for over the past seven years. Soumya, a resident of Subbannapalaya, had recently distanced herself from John after there was a quarrel between her mother and John's sister in the area. Both of them quarrelled over John and Soumya as the two were not willing to get married.
On March 31, John created a ruckus in front of Soumya's house by stripping and threatened that Soumya could not marry anybody else.
He later struck Soumya with a knife on her head and also assaulted her mother.
When neighbours gathered, John fled the spot and the women lodged a complaint at the Banaswadi police station.
The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and sexual harassment against John, arrested him, produced before a magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.
