The Government of Karnataka and the Government of United Kingdom will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the fields of Information Technology, aerospace, infrastructure and bioscience.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of United Kingdom Nick Clegg.Speaking to reporters after the meeting Clegg said the discussions were fruitful.
“We discussed how we can work together to bring more investment into infrastructure, aerospace besides cooperation in doing business in fields like Information Technology and bioscience,” he said.
He also invited Siddaramaiah to visit the United Kingdom. In turn, Siddaramaiah invited Clegg and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron to Mysore during the Dasara festivities. In his address at the discussion, Siddaramaiah said Karnataka can explore ways to encourage institutional investment in infrastructure.
The chief minister said he appreciated the Line of Credit of one billion pounds from the UK Export Finance (UKEF) to support Indian projects such as Bangalore-Mumbai Economic Corridor. The corridor would boost the economic growth of the State, he said.
Siddaramaiah said the State government will establish Aerospace Technology Centre modeled on the High Value Manufacturing Catapult of the United Kingdom and sought the cooperation of the island nation.
