The second agriculture engineering college in Karnataka was inaugurated on Tuesday by Agriculture Minister Shivashankar Reddy at the Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) campus near Hebbal.

Reddy said, “There is a lot of development in the field of agriculture through technical education. The important part in agriculture is processing, where there is a bigger challenge. I expect this engineering course and agriculture engineering course to give an overall solution for agricultural problems in the country."

Various undergraduate and post-graduate agriculture-related courses are already being offered at GKVK. The engineering courses will be an add-on. There will also be new courses like M Tech in farm power and machinery engineering, PhD in processing and food engineering, and industry & academia linkage in the field of agricultural engineering in coming days.
