Bengaluru: The Bal Vedike in Bengaluru's Cubbon Park came alive on Sunday with Kamishibai (pronounced Kah-mee-she-bye), a Japanese street theatre form using illustrated picture cards to tell stories.

Rooted in Japan's visual storytelling traditions, Kamishibai emerged in the 1920s and continues to charm audiences worldwide. The event was organised by the Indian Kamishibai Association (IKA), founded in 2021 by storyteller Ramya Srinidhi.

Children and parents gathered at Bal Bhavan to enjoy the session, where five storytellers performed under the tree, making it interactive for the kids.
