A pushcart vendor ended his life by hanging himself to death at his house in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Laggere on Sunday evening.
The deceased, Chikkanna, 24 was running a roadside eatery in front of ESI Hospital in Rajajinagar.
The incident occurred when Chikkanna’s wife had gone to visit her parents on Saturday. She returned home later that night to find that Chikkanna had hanged himself from the ceiling fan in the hall using her saree.
Reasons unknown
While police said the reason for his suicide is still unknown, Chikkanna’s wife, in her statement to the police, said that mounting debts might have led him to take the extreme step.
Chikkanna, who hailed from Kunigal in Tumkur district, was married four years ago. The couple have a two-year-old daughter.
Rajagopalnagar police have registered a case.
