A group of students staged a protest in front of the Interior Design Academy on New Thippasandra Main Road under Jeevan Bima Nagar police limits on Saturday, alleging that the academy had cheated them of their money.

The students stated that they got admissions into BSc (Interior Designing) course in 2015. Later, they found that the academy was neither holding classes nor exams, tests. On Saturday, they demanded the academy to conduct exams. But they realised that the government had scrapped the BSc (Interior designing) course, the police said. The academy was affiliated to Devi Trust. The academy and Devi Trust admitted the students despite the course being scrapped and did not conduct any exams.

A senior police officer said, “The cheating came to light only when the students protested. They had admitted the students even though the course did not exist any longer. Sainath, managing director of the academy, was arrested and the owner of Devi Trust will also be arrested.” A case has been registered at Jeevan Bima Nagar police station.
