Around 50 research scholars of the Institute for Economic and Social Change (ISEC), Nagarabhavi, staged a protest in front of its director’s office on Monday morning, demanding immediate removal of director Prof Chandrakanth M G.

The protesters termed Prof Chandrakanth “anti-student”, “undemocratic” and “insensitive”. Even late last year, the students had staged a protest. “Since May 2016, research scholars have been facing constant issues. On various occasions, several queries raised by the student fraternity, have gone unanswered. Repeated letters, delegations and requests by the research scholars have gone unheard,” a student said.

On Sunday, the students had raised objections to men constables entering the women’s hostel on the pretext of conducting certain investigations. Addressing these issues, one of the members of the Board of Governors said that a committee will be formed to look into the issue. The committee will look into several issues including gender bias, caste or religion based discrimination, he said.
