Submit occupancy records, BBMP told

The high court asked the BBMP to submit all the records of applications for occupancy certificates (OCs) the civic body has received from January 1, 2018, till date.

The court sought the details of documents the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike needs to grant OCs. It also sought to know about the OCs granted, the pending ones, those declined and details pertaining to all 198 wards.

It was hearing a petition filed by the Nakoda Constructions, which has challenged the withholding of grant of the OC despite completion of construction of an apartment according to the sanctioned plan.

The details should be submitted during the next hearing, and if the information is found incorrect the officials concerned would be punished, the court said. The hearing was The adjourned to 8 April.

Non-bailable warrant

In an earlier hearing, the court directed BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad to be present. However, following his absence on Tuesday, the court issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.

To this, the BBMP counsel said the commissioner was busy with election work and was not able to attend. But the court dismissed this. Later during the day, the commissioner was present before the court following which the NBW was recalled.

The commissioner told DH: “I wasn't informed I was supposed to be present. Later I appeared before the court and explained. I respect the court and would never skip any hearings or summons.”
