The sudden showers that lashed the city on Friday night disrupted the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) plans to take up the repair of the Sirsi Circle flyover.
Officials, who had planned to begin the repair work on Friday night, had to defer their plans inadvertently due to the heavy rain.
As the 2.6-km-long stretch had become an accident prone zone due to potholes and faulty joints, the civic major had taken up repair works from Friday. K T Nagaraj, chief engineer (Projects Central), BBMP, said that due to the rain they had to postpone the work. “We had planned to take away the medians as part of the repair. We were ready to close a part of the stretch on Friday night to begin the work. But, the rain forced us to abort. We will resume the repair from Saturday night,” Nagaraj explained.
Though, the sudden showers lowered the mercury in the city, according to BBMP officials, there was no major damage caused due to the rain. “We received no damage reports like flooding or uprooting of trees from any of the zones,” said a senior BBMP official.
