Philanthropist and writer Sudha Murty’s  27th book ‘Three Thousand Stitches’ will be formally released on July 14. Published by Penguin Random House, India, the book traces the journey of the author’s experience while she was working for Infosys Foundation, set up in 1996.

She speaks how she convinced 3,000 Devadasis to come out of that age-old practice and stand on their own feet, along with sending their children to schools and colleges.

Speaking about the book, Sudha Murty said, “This book is a mirror to the story of what I have experienced during my initial days of working at the Infosys Foundation. Although I had written this book three to four years ago, we are releasing it only now.”

She said awareness needs to be created on Devadasi system. “We have to let women know that there are many other jobs that would help them to stand on their own feet,” she added.
