The Hamsanada Foundation will host the fourth edition of the Ragamalika Awards on June 1.

The event will include ‘Harmonica Vaibhava’, an annual day for the harmonica students of the Foundation to showcase their talents alongside children from the Amrutha Shishu Nivasa orphanage. 

They will perform both film songs such as ‘Aayiram kannumaayi’, a Malayalam hit by K J Yesudas, and ranga gite (theatre songs) such as ‘Gajavadana Herambha’ by B V Karanth.

The Karnatik Harmonica Ensemble, comprising 13 artistes, will perform compositions of Tyagaraja and Purandara Dasa, along with a special ‘Swara pallavi’ composed for the occasion, shares Saitejas Chandrashekar, founder and teacher with the Foundation.

Veteran artistes Upendra Laxmeshwar from Pune and Ashok Bhandari from New Delhi will receive the
Ragamalika Award for their contributions to the harmonica in India.
