Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division) S Girish, teams led by senior officers inspected vehicles and bus stands, including interstate buses.

"Around 200 personnel, along with sniffer dog squads, conducted raids on transport, goods, and public carriers. We also checked vehicle documents, goods permit, and drivers’ licences,” the DCP said.

The DCP and other officers also conducted awareness programmes on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, urging drivers and the public to avoid involvement in illegal transportation.

The police said the drive would continue and warned of strict action against those smuggling ganja and other narcotics.
