Bengaluru: A suspected gold smuggler who arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) from Dubai on Thursday tried to ditch 3.5 kg of gold after spotting customs officials.

He allegedly threw the bag containing gold into another passenger's trolley and fled the scene. 

"The suspect was allegedly trying to smuggle gold biscuits into India. When he spotted customs officials at the airport, he panicked and threw the bag into another passenger's trolley," according to an official. 

The unsuspecting passenger discovered the gold and immediately informed the customs officials. Upon inspection, officials found 3.5 kg of gold biscuits in the bag. Customs officials are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and trace the smuggler.
