Applicants seeking learner’s licence under the jurisdiction of RTOs of Electronics City or KR Puram will now be able to take an objective test on a computer.

On Friday, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the service-STALL(Screen Test aid for Learner's Licence) at RTO Electronics City. Under this, the applicants will have to take an objective type question test in English or Kannada with or without audio. Explaining the system, Transport Commissioner Ramegowda said the applicants will be given 15 questions to answer in 15 minutes which will include mandatory, cautionary, informatory signs and questions pertaining to the Motor Vehicle Act and Rules.

An applicant who answers a minimum of 10 questions correctly, will be declared pass and issued the learner's licence the same day. Officials say that the system will bring in transparency and speedy disposal of learner's licence applications. To start with, the system has been implemented at the RTO, Electronics City and KR Puram in addition to the existing oral test. It will be extended to other RTOs as well, said an official.
