A software engineer was killed after his bike collided with an earth-mover in Sompura along the NICE Road in Kumaraswamy Layout Saturday morning.

Deceased Rakshith Gowda, (24), was a resident of Nagasandra, Tumakuru road, and a native of Harihara, the police said.

According to the police, Gowda was headed to Thalaghattapura to meet his friend on his KTM Duke motorcycle. Around 9.30 am, after he crossed the Sompura toll, he took the service road on which a JCB was approaching from the opposite direction. Gowda, on the presumption that no vehicle would come from the opposite direction, was over-speeding and collided with the earth-mover. He died on the way to the hospital, the police said.
