Bengaluru: A 24-year-old techie, who also worked as a Rapido bike taxi driver, died in a road accident on SJP Road in Bengaluru during the early hours of Thursday.
Kumar, a native of Andhra Pradesh and residing in Marathahalli, was travelling from KR Market towards home when a tipper lorry carrying tar collided with his bike, around 12.55 am. The police confirmed there was no pillion rider at the time.
The impact of the crash caused Kumar to fall off his bike, and the lorry ran over him, resulting in fatal injuries. “The lorry driver, a man in his 30s, has been detained,” said an officer from the Halasuru Gate traffic police station.
Whitefield accident
Hours later, a second fatal accident occurred on Nallurhalli Main Road, Whitefield, involving a Canter truck carrying chickens and a parked tipper lorry.
The crash took place around 5 am when the speeding Canter rammed into the stationary tipper lorry, which had been parked on the right side of the narrow one-way road.
The driver of the Canter, Lakshminarayan (39) from Andhra Pradesh, and his co-passenger, Sahil (23) from Manipur, were killed. Two other passengers, Mohammad Zakir Hussain and Rejis Khan, both 23 and hailing from Manipur, sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the tipper lorry, Dashrath (20), has been detained, and the police are investigating.
