The suspects accosted Satish, who was riding a bike near the auto stand in Anjanappa Garden and started abusing him. One of them stabbed him on his neck when he tried to escape. Satish collapsed on the spot, they added.
Satish was working in a garage and had no criminal background. “We are trying to trace the killers and the motive behind the killing. We are also trying to find out whether he had rivalry with anyone. His parents have given some clues about his friends,” police said.
Asst director arrested
A Kannada movie assistant director was arrested on Saturday morning by the city police on charges of harassing his wife.
Nethravathi has in a complaint lodged with the Halasur Gate Women’s Police station, stated that she was harassed by her husband V R Shashikant and in-laws. “We have arrested Shashikant and he is now in judicial custody,” said Sub-Inspector Anjumala T Nayak. The cops are also on the look out for Shashikanth’s parents Ranga Hanumaiah, Pushpa Narasamma, brother Panduranga and sister Bharathi, she added.
Nethravathi alleged that just two months after her marriage in March 2008, Shashikant and her in-laws started harassing her. Shashikant has worked as assistant director in two Kannada movies-Krishna and Pokri.
Five police teams
The Indiranagar police has formed five teams to arrest the culprits behind Friday’s theft at Goldmine Jewellery on CMH Road.
Police said the gang members might be from Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu staying in bordering districts of Karnataka. “The teams have been dispatched to Chintamani, Kolar, KGF and Bangarpet. CCTV footage of the suspects have been provided to the police officers of those areas to speed up the investigation process,” the police added.
