The industry does not want just rank students, it needs skilled candidates. Students with rank and skills can become good assets for this country, said K V Rajendra Hedge, general manager of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd on Wednesday.

Speaking after inaugurating the Centre of Excellence, a CSR initiative by the Toyota Kirloskar at Reva University, he said, “Gone are the days when salaries in India were low. Today, we are competing with other countries and paying our employees well.”

“There is a need for students to have practical knowledge and to become employable to be developed as entrepreneurs. In this direction, we started this CSR initiative in many colleges and have received a good response. More student must make use of the centre of excellence and enhance their practical skills,” he said.

Swamy M K, division head of Toyota briefed the mechanical engineering students about the company. Reva University vice-chancellor Dr S Y Kulkarni and staff members were present.
