Tribal youths get feel of City life

Can you believeit, if youths say that they do not have a cell phone, haven’t travelled by train, never been to any other state and have no electricity in their homes? Unbelieve but this is true of 220 tribal youths who have arrived to the City under tribal youth exchange programme.

These youths, 55 girls and 165 boys, have been chosen from the remote villages of nine districts of Chhattisgarh for a seven-day exposure visit to Karnataka to understand cultural ethos, lifestyle and get a feel of the technological, industrial advancement.

Most youths, at the inaugural held in the City on Saturday, said  they have never been to any other state, not travelled by train before, do not have cell phone and power facility at their house is mirage for a few.

The Union government has introduced a scheme for the tribal youths in an effort expose them to mainstream for which Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) was chosen as the nodal agency.As part of the tour, tribal youths called on the Governor on Saturday in Raj Bhavan.

Director of department of youth empowerment and sports N Shivaprasad advised the youths to gain maximum benefits from their visit.
