Bengaluru: The police have arrested six people for the murder of a 33-year-old truck driver near Jayanagar in south Bengaluru on Monday.
The police identified the suspects as Shivaprasad, Bharath, Jayanth Gowda, Pavan, Prajwal Gowda, Abhishek, and Ganesh, all in their 20s and 30s.
On Monday, around 7.30 pm, the suspects attacked Nikhil, a driver from Mysuru, when he was sitting inside his truck at AK Colony near Jayanagar. He had moved to the city a week ago and drove a Tata Ace mini pickup truck for a living.
Police investigations revealed that the target was not Nikhil, but another person named Kaantha. The suspects confused Nikhil with Kaantha and attacked him.
"Shivaprasad had a tiff with Kaantha and wanted to eliminate him. But the suspects mistook the target and attacked Nikhil instead,” an investigator told DH.
The suspects have been booked under BNS Section 103 (murder).
