A Travelling Ticket Examiner Of The Indian Railways

Bengaluru: Three train passengers with general tickets assaulted and injured a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) after he asked them to leave a reserved compartment.
The incident occurred on the Mysuru-Chennai Kaveri Express (train number 16022) on the intervening night of January 15 and 16.
The passengers refused to leave the reserved compartment despite repeated instructions from the on-duty TTE. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) intervened, and the passengers were detained at the Bangarpet station for further action, the South Western Railway (SWR) said.
The SWR said unreserved passengers travelling in reserved coaches would be penalised as per the railway rules.
"The presence of unreserved passengers in reserved coaches often leads to overcrowding and conflicts. To address this issue, TTEs and RPF personnel regularly monitor the reserved coaches to ensure that only passengers with valid reservation tickets occupy these coaches," the SWR said.
