The Dr BR Ambedkar stadiums in ward numbers 106 and 105 of Govindaraj Nagar and Basaveshwaranagar are gearing up to have national-level amenities for the benefit of citizens and sportspersons.
State Housing Department Minister V Somanna along with BBMP officials inspected the ongoing work at the stadiums on Thursday.
Somanna instructed the BBMP officials to take suggestions from the public on how to develop the stadiums further.
The stadium situated at the Dr Rajkumar ward in Govindaraj Nagar is touted to be developed at a cost of Rs 18 crore.
The BBMP said the stadiums will have a gym, yoga centres, basketball, skating and badminton courts, and running tracks for joggers and athletes, and is expected to have a capacity to accommodate 500-600 people.
The stadiums will also have national-level swimming pools for the benefit of swimmers and fitness enthusiasts.
The works are expected to be completed soon and the public can access the facilities in the next five to six months, the minister said.
