Two students from National Public School, Rajajinagar, have secured top ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains).
Vadiraja K and Shankar Narayan stood first and second in the State and 70th and 73rd in the all-India rankings.
A 97.4 per cent in his class XII helped Narayan get a rank of 2,286 in JEE (Advanced), a higher level of test for admission into IITs.
Although he has been allotted aeronautical engineering in the top institute, Narayan originally wanted to pursue mechanical engineering. He is, however, not at all unhappy with what he got.
“I was actually surprised that I made it to IIT-Madras,” he said.
Vadiraja, who secured 97.6 per cent in class XII, will pursue computer science engineering at NIT, Surathkal. “I worked consistently for three to four hours every day and I am quite happy,” he said.
