Two young men from Kerala have been arrested for smuggling ganja and hashish oil into Bengaluru and selling them here, police said.

The anti-narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) said it arrested Anagesh, 23, of Malappuram, and Mohammed Farris, 26, of Kozhikode, from a house in Doddanekkundi, East Bengaluru, on Monday and seized 1.3 litres of hashish oil and two kilograms of ganja.

Police inspector B S Ashok said Farris had dropped out of college and come to Bengaluru looking for a job. But here, he teamed up with Anagesh, and they started smuggling drugs from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Their customers were common friends in Bengaluru and Kerala.

They sold 10 ml of hashish oil for Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 while 50 grams of ganja fetched Rs 5,000, the CCB said.

Hashish oil is expensive as 50 ml of it is obtained by boiling five kilograms of ganja. It can be applied on cigarettes or consumed orally. Ganja is rolled or filled in cigarettes.

A case has been registered against them at the Mahadevapura police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
