Two children were attacked by a pack of stray dogs at Rajajinagar on Thursday. The incident comes barely a week after Praveen, the 11-year-old boy who was mauled by dogs at Vibhuthipura, succumbed to injuries.

Sai Siri and her brother Akash (11) were on their way to school along with their grandmother at Rajajinagar 6th block on Thursday morning. As they approached the entrance of St Mary’s School, they were hounded by a pack of strays.

The children sustained injuries on their hands and legs, and are being treated at a private hospital.

‘Palike in state of limbo’

Dr G Anand, joint director, animal husbandry, BBMP, said the Palike is in a state of limbo as it cannot take much action against stray dogs.

“The animal lovers have got a stay order from the Supreme Court against impounding stray dogs. We are not allowed to relocate the dogs. It’s difficult for us to bring them under control because we cannot keep them under observation, for it might become contempt of court,” said Anand.
