The city police arrested two men for chopping off the hand of a waiter who asked them to settle their bill in Avalahalli on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Chandru and Uday, both of whom are said to be habitual offenders.

The injured waiter, Chikkegowda, 25, a native of Ramanagaram, was rushed to the hospital and is recovering.

According to Avalahalli police, Chandru and Uday visited the bar around 11 pm on Tuesday.

When they were about to leave without settling the bill, Chikkegowda asked them to pay up. But the duo attacked him and two other staff, Suneel and Muthu, who came to Chikkegowda’s rescue.
