Bengaluru: The US consulate will open in Bengaluru on Friday, according to Bangalore South MP, L S Tejasvi Surya.
The consulate will be dedicated to the city by the US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti.
While the consulate officials are yet to be named and the location has yet to be revealed, it has been reported that the consulate will function with a limited number of officers from JW Marriott Hotel, Vittal Mallya Road, before moving to a permanent office.
Surya said the consulate would benefit lakhs of students and professionals, boost commerce and trade between the two countries, and smoothen travel for businessmen and entrepreneurs. A fully functional US consulate in Bengaluru will help at least half a million people, he added.
