A small yet cosy hangout occupying a prime place on the bustling New BEL Road, Snackers Stop is a foodie’s paradise. Serving all types of food from burgers, noodles, pastas, sandwiches, parotas, salads, chaats, smoothies, granitas and ice creams, it makes one wonder if there is anything that this place does not serve. A great hit amongst the students of M S Ramaiah Group of Institutions, Snackers Stop was started on New BEL Road by Vinod in 2005. However, the location was not the same. Later, it was shifted to its current location — next to the Levi’s Store.
Says Vinod, “Initially, we used to serve only Kolkata chaats. Recently, we introduced Italian dishes like pasta and fastfood items like burgers and subs.” He promises, “You must try our gol guppas as they are the best.” He adds, “The starting price of our chaats is as less as Rs 10.” Not to mention the plain samosas, kachoris and tikkis that you can buy for Rs 8!
In addition to the usual chaats — pani puri, masala puri, aloo puri, bhel puri and jhaal muri; there are the tangy curd-based chaats like dahi puri, dahi samosa, dahi papdi etc. And if you are hungrier than that, go for the hot and buttery parotas (aloo, gobi, methi, onion and paneer). The non-vegetarian subs like devilled chicken, chicken salami and chicken mayo come with salted potato chips and are relished by all food-lovers. Vegetarian subs include the Russian salad sub and fetta cheese and salsa with jalapenos and sundried tomatoes.
If you are an egg-lover, then an egg sandwich or a spicy scrambled egg over here would be a perfect choice. Or opt for the golden hued masala and cheese omelettes that you will gobble up even before you realise! Starters like fries, Italian cheese rolls and spicy baby corn/potato simply melt in your mouth. And then, there is the pasta arrabiata with a choice of red or white sauce.
If you are looking for a full meal, order the chilli chicken/chilli lamb with steamed rice, Thai red curry and rice, or Thai basil chicken and steamed rice.
Have you had of spice? Never mind! Dig into some ice creams for Rs 15 or 20 a scoop. If you want a cool drink, there are mango, strawberry and choco strawberry smoothies and granitas of all flavours like lime, green apple, strawberry and black current. A lemon or peach ice tea is ideal on a hot summer day.
Surrounded by residential localities, colleges and companies, Snackers Stop is thronged by people from all walks of life. Manasa, an MBA student, visits the joint at least once a week. “I am a vegetarian so I like all the vegetarian items served here especially the masala puri and sev puri. Even the pastas here are different. They are not very buttery and have a lot of masala,” she says. Snackers Stop is open on all days from 10 am to
11 pm.
