Bengaluru: Vatal Nagaraj, President of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha, staged a bizarre protest on Tuesday against the rising cost of living in Bengaluru.

Known for his dramatic demonstrations, Vatal felicitated a donkey at the Kempegowda Bus Station, Majestic, on April 1 to mark April Fool’s Day.

Speaking during the protest, he said, “Donkeys never cheat, lie, or commit crimes. They are honest and loyal. Fools are those who do not lie, kill, or steal. And in Karnataka, there is nobody who doesn’t commit these sins. The only creatures that do not sin are donkeys.”

He went on to allege that elected representatives are robbers and honoured the donkey by draping it with a shawl.

"The Karnataka government has worsened the lives of common people by increasing the prices of essential commodities like milk, electricity, and public transport," he said, adding that the previous BJP government, now protesting against price hikes, is equally deceitful and untrustworthy.
