The meeting, which had Assembly Speaker UT Khader, Government Chief Whips Saleem Ahmed and Ashok Pattan, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and others, also discussed providing sports facilities for legislators at the upcoming Constitution Club.

The restaurant and sports facilities will come up in the available open space at the Balabrooie, a 174-year-old heritage structure.

"A proposal has been submitted to take up works worth Rs 20 crore. But we need to see how much the government provides," a source said.

In January 2023, the High Court permitted the state government to use the Balabrooie guest house as a Constitution Club for legislators on the lines of a similar facility in New Delhi. This was based on an undertaking by the state government that the no structural modification - interior or exterior - will be made.
