Vijaykumar elected film chamber president

 Film producer B Vijaykumar was elected president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) on Saturday.

He defeated his nearest rival, producer B N Gangadhar, by a margin of 105 votes.
The elections, which saw a three-way contest between Vijakumar, Gangadhar and director Rajendra Singh Babu, saw Vijaykumar polling 365 votes, B N Gangadhar 260 votes and Babu 160 votes. There were 1,299 votes in total, comprising 659 votes of the producers, 367 votes of the distributors and 273 votes of the exhibitors. Vijaykumar is expected to take charge on Sunday.

Other office-bearers

S A Chinnegowda (Treasurer), M Narasimhulu, N Kumar and Umesh Banakar (Vice-presidents representing exhibitors, distributors and producers, respectively). G K Kutty, K Rajashekar and A Ganesh (Secretaries representing exhibitors, distributors, producers, respectively).

In addition, 33 persons were elected members of the working committee.
Speaking to mediapersons after the elections, Vijaykumar promised to fight for getting subsidies from the government to all Kannada films.

“My priority is to focus on solving issues dogging the film industry. We will continue our stand against allowing dubbing,” he added.
