Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s granddaughter B U Apoorva, daughter of S Y Aruna Devi, married her classmate B Chandrakanth on Thursday at Palace Grounds.
Earlier on Wednesday, a lavish reception was hosted at the same venue which was attended by top politicians, film stars, and bureaucrats.
Apoorva and B Chandrakanth met while doing their BE together in electronics and communication at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering in Mysore.
An excited Chandrakanth spoke to Metrolife soon after his wedding, “We liked each other but we always wanted to get married with the consent of our parents. It’s a great feeling and I am glad that everything went off smoothly with the love and affection of our family members.”
Apoorva did her PUC in Shimoga and later moved to Mysore to pursue her BE. Chandrakanth completed his PUC from Seshadripuram College in PCME before moving to Mysore.
The couple will go to the University of Alabama in the United States of America to do their MBA in supply chain management. “We will return to Bangalore and I would like to employ new techniques and start a business in supply chain management. My dream is to revolutionise the mass transport system in Bangalore,” shared Chandrakanth.
Talking about the preparation, Apoorva’s mother Aruna Devi said, “I stay in Shimoga. My brothers made all the arrangements. I am not too sure about the guest list. I had only invited my friends from Shimoga.” On the reception day, the bride looked resplendent in gold-embroidered sari while the groom matched his black suit with white shirt, red silk tie and red pocket square.
Among film stars who graced the occasion were Ambarish, Upendra, Priyanka, Ganesh, Yash and music director Guru Kiran.
