Revenue Minister R V Deshpande on Monday said the state government will take all measures to collect Rs 982 crore from the Eagleton Golf Resort in Bidadi near Bengaluru for encroaching upon 77 acres of government land.

Replying to a question by A T Ramaswamy of the JD(S), Desphande said the Supreme Court had directed the resort to either pay the government the guidance value of the encroached land or surrender the same. A Cabinet sub-committee in 2017 fixed Rs 982 crore as the amount that the resort will have to pay. However, the resort questioned the manner in which the panel had arrived at the figure in the High Court of Karnataka.

“The Supreme Court direction prevails and we will ensure that the amount due is recovered,” Deshpande said.
